Ursula E. Purdom 1946 – 2007
Ursula E. Purdom died on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at her home after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 27, 1946 in Ansbach, Germany, the daughter of Johann Kurmann and Margarete Halfmann. In 1963 she married Douglas Purdom, and soon thereafter they moved to California where they raised their children. They had recently moved to Oklahoma.
Ursula will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister and friend. She is also fondly remembered for her love of children and babies as she warmly embraced each new child and grandchild. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Ursula was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1972 and served Jehovah God loyally until her death. Though wasting away physically, her strength, integrity and sense of humor remained intact.
Preceding Ursula in death were her parents, brother Edie Schindler, and son Douglas Purdom Jr.
Survivors include husband Douglas Purdom, daughter Virginia Bell, son Mark Purdom, daughters Desarey Clem and Dannielle St. Claire; grandchildren Brandy Bell, Amanda Bolen, Kursten Purdom, Justin Bell, Brianna Purdom, Lauren Purdom, Douglas Purdom III, Logan Purdom, Alissa Purdom, Jonathan Purdom, Aidan King, Paige Purdom and Ronin Clem; sisters Ilse Bohm, Jutta Seybold, Brigitte Murphy, Ute Draper, and Bettina Yassney; brothers Hansi Schindler and Erwin Schindler; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 2:00 p. m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1417 W. Gentry, Checotah.
