Pearl Westmoreland 1913 - 2007
Pearl Westmoreland, 93, longtime Muskogee resident died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Highland Park Manor in Enid. Pearl was born on May 28, 1913 in Hodgeman County, Kansas to Aurther A. and Annie (Cavitt) Temple. She grew up in Kansas where she was educated. Pearl was married to R. C. "Clinton" Westmoreland on June 6, 1934. The young couple moved to Muskogee in 1938.
Mrs. Westmoreland began a career in real estate in 1948. She associated with her brother and founded the Temple-Westmoreland Real Estate Agency. She worked in real estate for almost 50 years before her retirement. During her years in real estate Pearl was involved as a member of the Muskogee Board of Realtors and the Women's Council of Board of Realtors, serving as past president. She was also a longtime member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Westmoreland was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, R. C. Westmoreland; son, Jerald Clinton Westmoreland and five siblings, Tom Temple, Charles Temple, Opal McClure, Grace Ainsworth and John Temple. She is survived by her son, Bob Westmoreland of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Betty Major of Enid, Oklahoma; grandson, Bert Major and his wife, Nancy of Enid; granddaughter, Susan Faught and her husband, Randall of Grand Prairie, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Mathews and Dana and Michael Dickson; two great-great-grandchildren, Ashley Dickson and Nathan Dickson and sister, Frances Temple of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fosters' Ivory Chapel, with Rev. John Curtis officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may wish to remember Mrs. Westmoreland by making memorials to the American Cancer Society, 5110 S. Yale, Suite 101, Tulsa, OK 74135 or the charity of their choice.
Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
