Published February 23, 2007 02:02 pm - Maxwell, Donna Kay Donna Kay Maxwell, 55, passed away January 14, 2007 at her home on Broadway Street. She was born March 15, 1951 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to William E. and Mildred W. (Jones) Thrower. Donna grew up around the area and attended high school. After graduation she attended Northeastern State University where she earned a degree in education. She taught at the Muskogee High School for twenty five years. In 1991 she was honored with the title Teacher of the year. Her last few years at the high school she taught business law and computers. Donna was a devoted educator and was well respected. She also spent time as a federal test administrator. Donna loved her family and spent large amounts of time traveling with her husband of thirteen years Tony. They traveled and made many friends. One such friend was an old bluesman who gave Donna a lucky rock which was blessed with mojo. They visited Hawaii, Maui and Mexico. The couple owned a twenty two foot boat which they enjoyed time on Lake Tenkiller. Donna also enjoyed her cat Pooter and two dogs Tish and Dewey. Donna was preceded in death by her father, William Edger Thrower. She is survived by her husband Tony Maxwell of Muskogee, mother, Mildred Wynona Thrower of Okmulgee, son Matthew Hyde and his wife Sara of Las Cruces, New Mexico, daughter, Mandy Wysel of Muskogee, son Kyle Maxwell of Fort Gibson, grand daughters Brittany and Ashley Hyde of Frankford, Germany, Casi Maxwell, Kristin Wysel, Kylee Wysel, Blayne Wysel all of Muskogee, brothers Randy Thrower and wife Barbara of Tulsa, Rick Thrower and wife Shirley of Okmulgee, Tim Thrower and wife Tish of Okmulgee, mother-in-law Christine Byrum of Checotah, sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bill Satterfield of Fort Gibson, sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Ron Hebb of Fort Gibson, sister-in-laws Christy and Tracy Maxwell of Checotah, brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Cynthia Maxwell of Parkhill, special friend Brenda Wheeler of Muskogee and many beloved students and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday January 18, 2007 at Fosters' Ivory Chapel with Reverend Neal Baumwart. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Satterfield, Bruce Satterfield, Brad Satterfield, Chris Thrower, Danny Thrower and Randy Thrower. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
