Ray Henry 1923-2007

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Ray Henry, 83, of Muskogee at 11:00 am, Friday, January 19, 2007 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church. Reverend Tom Shelton with officiate. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery with Gary Brown, Aaron Brown, Jim Henry, Caleb Brown, Mike Ellis and Jay Haddock serving as pallbearers.
Ray was born August 31, 1923 in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. He passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 to Thomas & Mary (Blankenship) Henry.
Ray joined the United States Navy and served his country aboard the U.S.S. Vekar in the South Pacific during World War II as part of the occupation forces in Okinawa. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He worked for Taystee Bread in Muskogee and Springfield, MO from 1948 through 1976. He retired from Ft. Howard in 1988. Mr. Henry was a lifetime member of VFW #474, serving as a member of the Honor Guard for many years. He loved to garden and fish and play with his great grandchildren. He was a kind man, always willing to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janette Lynn and a son, Mark Steven. Ray is survived by his wife, Frances Henry, of the home; daughter & son-in-law, Delores & Gary Brown of Muskogee; two grandsons, Aaron Brown of Tahlequah and Caleb Brown of Tulsa, two great grandchildren, Key Brown and Lyric Brown of Tahlequah, two sisters, Mable Haws of Choctaw and Inez Ellis of Muskogee and many other family members and friends.

The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements.
