Mabel Allen McDonald 1910-2007
Mabel Allene McDonald, 96, lifelong resident of Muskogee, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Broadway Manor Health Care Center. She was born in Muskogee on April 14, 1910 to Robert L. and Ida Jane (Liscome) Johnson. Mabel grew up and attended school in Muskogee. She and M. V. “Mickey” McDonald were married in Muskogee on October 25, 1929.
Mabel loved being a homemaker and working in her yard. She also enjoyed music, playing the organ, and had a very special love of ballroom dancing. She enjoyed dancing in Chicago during the Big Band Era.
Mabel was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of the late Helen McGee Organ Club in Tulsa and worked with her husband in the Shrine organization.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton V. McDonald on February 15, 1978; brother, Harvey Johnson; sister, Hassie Taylor; grandson, Mark B. Ryser; son-in-law, Bill B. Ryser and very special friend of 90 years, Lucille Bradford.
She is survived by her daughter, Harolyn Ryser; granddaughter, Mickey Ryser and nephews, H. C. Johnson and Bob Dowell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Rev. Diana Cox-Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
