Willie Mae Simmons 1932-2007
Willie Mae Simmons, seventy-four years young was called to eternal rest on Friday, January 12th, 2007. She was born November 14th, 1932, in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Muskogee when she was young. She attended elementary school and Manual Training High School. Willie later met and married Mr. Loray Simmons. She started her career at the Muskogee General Hospital in the Dietary Department and retired after twenty years of service. Professing a belief in the Lord she was an active member of Peters Chapel A.M.E. Church.
The family members who preceded her in death by were her father, Roosevelt Maynard, mother Alberta Green, and brother Otto Green, along with several aunts and uncles. The loved ones she leaves behind to thank the Lord for the celebration of her life include her beloved husband, Loray of the home, son, Edward Simmons, of Oklahoma City, OK, daughters, Norma Fort (Victor) of Tonganoxie, KS and Addie Gamble (John), of Muskogee, OK, brother, Leon Mitchell, of Kansas City, MO, sisters; Betty Perkins Campbell of Muskogee, OK and Annette Wright (Thomas) of Wichita, KS along with six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of cousins and other dear relatives and friends.
The homegoing service for Sister Willie will be held Saturday, January 20th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ragsdale Funeral Center, “Chapel of Respect” with Rev. Leroy Walker, Sr. pastor of Rayfield Baptist Church, officiating the services. She will be laid to rest in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. Visitation hours will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
