Voltine Lee Cope 1922-2007

Voltine Lee Cope, 84, formerly of Tahlequah died Friday, January 19, 2007 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born July 8, 1922 in Ada, Oklahoma to Sherman and Cena Ellen (Derryberry) Cope. Voltine grew up in Ada where he was educated.
Mr. Cope enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he made his home in Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. Cope was married to Beatrice Brown and the couple raised their family in Youngstown. Voltine worked in radiology at LTV Steele for many years. Upon retirement he moved to Tahlequah in the late 1980’s. In 2003 he moved to Columbia, South Carolina to be near his family.
Mr. Cope was preceded in death by: his parents, Sherman and Cena Cope; his wife, Bea Cope; two sisters, Ann Stafford and Bonnie Choate; one brother Gene Cope and daughter, Anita Lee Cope.
He is survived by: his son, Gary Cope of Cold Spring, TX; daughter, Karen Rogers of Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren: Al Stevens, Traci Dennis, Carolyn Senedak, Larry Rogers, Sharon Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Jason Cope, Ryan Cope, Chris Cope, Miranda Cope and Charlie Cope and seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Pauline Suttle of Moore, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may wish to remember Mr. Cope by making contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, 6465 South Yale, Suite #312, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804.
Funeral services are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
