Jimmy Ray Motsenbocker 1940-2007
Jimmy Ray Motsenbocker, 67 year old Checotah resident passed from this life peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2007, in Muskogee. He was born in Lake City, AR on January 15, 1940, the son of Sherman Samuel and Eva Mae (Dedmon) Motsenbocker, and grew up in Paragould, AR. Several years ago Jimmy had worked as a crop duster in California, and as a young man had served in the Army National Guard. He had lived in the Checotah area for twenty-six years. He loved to sing country music, enjoyed cars, and enjoyed landscaping his yard. On December 28, 2004 in Checotah, Jimmy married his sweetheart and best friend Janis E. (Blanchard) Strickland, and together they loved and enjoyed life for over two years. Jimmy was known and well liked by many, and will be greatly missed.
Preceding Jimmy in death was his parents. Survivors include his wife Janis of the home; one son; brothers and sisters, and other relatives; and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 2:00 p. m. in the Hampton Memorial Chapel with Cleo Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah with Mike Parsons, Grady Bivins, Charlie Rogers, Mark Schroeder, Charles Nunley, Joe Wilson, Rusty Hopper and Chris Ross serving as casket bearers.
