Published February 23, 2007 02:35 pm - Ashworth, Mae Allen Landers Mae Ellen Landers Ashworth 1908-2007 Mae Ellen Landers Ashworth, 98, died Friday, January 19, 2007 in McAlester. She was born June 4, 1908 to Hiram and Callie (Scales) Landers in Porum, Oklahoma. She grew up in McLain, Oklahoma and received her education at Buckhorn and McLain schools. She married Alfred Ashworth and they were blessed with two wonderful sons. Mae worked at Corning Glass Company 23 years. She was active in Muskogee Rebekah Lodge 52 years, served as District Deputy president two terms and was Drill Captain and Lodge Deputy several years. She was given a life membership in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 474 and was a Gold Star Mother. Mae was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a past oracle in the Royal Neighbors of America. She was preceded in death by her son, Alton, in 1950, who was killed in Korea; husband, Alfred, in 1980; son, Jim, in 2001; her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Mae is survived by a granddaughter, Anisa Bain and husband, Alan, of Frisco, Texas; sister, Eva Christianson, of Phoenix, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Fosters' Ivory Chapel with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
