Edward E. Kirkpatrick 1930-2007

Funeral services for Edward E. Kirkpatrick, age 76, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27th, 2007 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Dave Brewer officiating. Services are under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
Edward E. Kirkpatrick was born in Boynton, OK on February 01st, 1930, the son of Henry Everett Kirkpatrick and Delora (Daugherty) Kirkpatrick. He passed away at his home in Tahlequah on January 24th, 2007, with his family by his side. Ed was raised and attended schools in Boynton. In his senior year he led the Boynton basketball team to the 1947 Oklahoma State Championship and was named an All State player. After graduating, Ed enlisted and served his country for four years in the US Air Force. He then attended Northeastern State University for one year before completing his degree in Psychology at the University of Tulsa, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While attending Tulsa University, he married Montez Hunt on August 13th, 1955. Together, along with their two sons, the family moved to Tahlequah in 1974. Ed owned and operated Ned’s in Tahlequah for 21 years. He was an avid tennis player and later in life when he could no longer play tennis, he took up golf, scoring three hole-in-ones. Ed enjoyed conversation, loved people and spending time with friends and family who will deeply miss him.
His parents and his brother Gene, who passed away in 1984, preceded Ed in death.
He is survived by his wife, Montez, of the home; by his sons, Steven Kirkpatrick and wife Robin, and Gary Kirkpatrick and wife Jean, both of Tahlequah; his sister, Helen Wells of Broken Arrow; his sister-in-law, Twyla Brewer and her husband Dave of Tahlequah; his grandchildren, Blake, Paige and Alexandra; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
