Thelma Walker 1924-2007
Thelma Walker was born May 5, 1924 in Waldo, AR to Abraham and Isabella (Thompson) Carter. The eldest of five siblings.
In 1945, while residing in Arkansas she met and married David Walker, this union was blessed with one child.
She confessed a hope in Christ while in her youth and united with the First Baptist church under the pastorage of the late Charles H. Davis. She served actively in the church missionary dept. until her declining health.
Thelma worked in Taft, OK at the DBO facility later transferring to the Lloyd E. Rader Center in Sand Springs, OK where she retired.
Preceding her in death are her parents, 4 uncles, 3 aunts, and a nephew.
On January 24, 2007 Thelma made her transition and leaves to cherish her memory, Her only devoted daughter, Elaine Walker, Haskell, OK; a brother, Pleas (Pat) Thompson, Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Ruby Mae Thomas, Muskogee, Corean Barnett, Tulsa, OK, Maxine Myers, Tulsa, OK; 6 grandchildren, Ginna (Paul) Surratt, Derrick Walker; Randi Shipp, all of Tulsa, Angelic Walker, Broken Arrow, OK; Felecia (Rokito) Barnes, Tallahassee, FL, Alicia Walker, Haskell, OK; 10 great grandchildren, 6 nephews, 3 nieces, 2 devoted cousins, Floyd (Anna) Johnson, Haskell, OK; Christine Wiley, Muskogee, OK along with other cousins, relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted, Tuesday, 11 a.m. in the Eastside First Baptist Church, Haskell with Rev. H.L. Stidham delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Haskell cemetery.
The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn. Online condolences and registry may be expressed at www.housofwinn.com. Mrs. Walker will lie in state, Monday, in the funeral home slumber room during the hours of 12 Noon until 6 p.m.
