Detention 1.jpg

Workers with Cotton’s Trucking measure the side of a culvert they are widening between Chandler Road and Okmulgee Avenue. The culvert is part of a 5-acre detention basin being built southeast of the York Street and Chandler Road intersection. The $1.22 million project will help ease flooding in the area and allow a culvert between the McDonald’s Restaurant and Charlie’s Chicken to be widened and replaced. Clay McAlpine, engineer with Holloway, Updike & Bellen, said the project also will include a walking trail around the pond. He said the project is set to be concluded by the end of July.
