Staff photo by Cathy Spaulding Tim Doerner of the Muskogee Parks and Recreation Department doesn’t let wind stop his efforts to put up a banner along Okmulgee Avenue just east of 26th Street. Joel Everett, the special events coordinator in the Muskogee Parks and Recreation Department, said 100 banners will be displayed along Okmulgee Avenue and Broadway, and along Honor Heights Drive through April as Muskogee celebrates its monthlong Azalea Festival. Everett said most of the banners reflect the theme of this year’s Azalea Parade, “Flowers We Love.” The parade will be April 13 in downtown Muskogee. After the festival, the banners will be auctioned, starting at 6 p.m. May 4 at Honor Heights Park.
