Beloved Woman 8/30

Michelle Honaker sings a song about her wedding day as Angelina Villegas-Cummings and Candice Byrd pretend to be her bridesmaids during a rehearsal performance of “Nanyehi: Beloved Woman of the Cherokees.” The play is about the life of Nanyehi, who followed her husband into battle at the age of 17. When her husband was killed, she picked up his gun and shot his attacker, then led the Cherokees into the rest of the battle. A dozen people from Muskogee are in the production: Steve Ball, Jim Paul Blair, Ron Boren, Angelina Villegas-Cummings, Tommy Cummings, Dice Dawson, Travis Fite, Jim Loftin, Barbara McAlister, Mary Beth Nelson, Wes Nelson and Cary Pruit. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday at the Northeastern State University Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free, but seats must be reserved. Information: (918) 458-2075.
