Members of the Muskogee Fire Department look through a crashed pickup Wednesday afternoon on the Muskogee Turnpike. Muskogee Police Officer Kevin Gilbreth said the pickup, driven by Jess Eldon Wilson, 60, of Muskogee, was southbound on the turnpike when it merged in front of a tractor-trailer rig. The pickup was “clipped,” Gilbreth said, eventually crossing the median and landing on its side. Wilson had just gotten on the turnpike from the Shawnee Bypass exit, Gilbreth said. Wilson’s pickup dug deep grooves in the median, still wet from recent rain. Wilson was taken to EASTAR Health System, where he was listed in good condition. Gilbreth said he hadn’t determined whether Wilson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and said it didn’t appear that the pickup’s airbags deployed. The driver of the tractor-trailer rig, Danny Hudson, 52, of Harrison, Ark., was not injured, but the front of his truck was damaged.
