Ward IV Councilor Kenny Payne, center, joins three others in prayer Thursday at Muskogee Civic Center during Mayor Bob Coburn’s second annual prayer luncheon. The event was conducted in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer, an annual day of observance designated by the U.S. Congress in 1952 conducted on the first Thursday of May. The theme of the mayor’s prayer luncheon was “Bridging the Gap.” The event is part of the mayor’s challenge to remove barriers within the community “one relationship at a time.”
