Trustee Myra Cookson, Arthur Hulbert, Budo Perry and Mayor Steven Hill gathered to watch the work begin on the new sports complex along Poplar Street in Fort Gibson. Mark Seabolt’s Faith-Based Therapeutic Community Corporation group volunteered to clear the front of the acreage that will become soccer fields in the near future. The Fort Gibson Board of Trustees voted recently to have Holloway, Updike and Bellen Inc. design the complex on a $500,000 budget. It will be built in two phases. Phase I includes concessions, two pavilions, parking, sewer, water and soccer fields. The complex will be built in memory of Quincy Vaughn, a former employee of Jerry Whitlock’s.
