Veterans Day proved the appropriate day to leave for boot camp or to enlist in the military. Joshua Hale of Stigler, left, Shelby Palmer of Fort Gibson, Vance Vickrey of Fort Gibson, and Brandon Wilson of Checotah board a bus for Oklahoma City. From there, they will be sent to their training stations: Hale to Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill.; Palmer to Air Force boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio; and Vickrey to Army boot camp at Fort Jackson, S.C. Wilson planned to enlist in the Army in Oklahoma City. With them was Brian Rhea of Muskogee, bound for boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
