Published August 05, 2008 03:07 pm - Preparing kids for future It’s important that our schools offer information and workshops concerning developing skills and technologies, and a recent summer camp fit the bill perfectly.
About 15 students attended a mecatronics camp at the Indian Capital Technology Center last month. Mecatronics is a combination of mechanical, electronic and software engineering, and it is the science that has led to the robots and complex automatic systems that pervade our society today. The field continues to grow, so we need even more workshops like this one for our youth. It’s not enough that young people read about scientific developments. They need hands-on experience. So we commend and thank the technology center and the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, which provided the grant that funded the camp. Camps like this will give our children a foundation and inspiration for the future.
