A Webbers Falls farmer charged with animal cruelty and two misdemeanor charges was acquitted Thursday after a three-day trial in Muskogee County District Court.
James Yang, 44, shot and killed two dogs used to hunt coyotes that were chasing cattle across his property March 25, 2006.
Yang’s lawyers argued Yang, who owns an egg-production and cattle operation in southeastern Muskogee County, had a legal right to protect his livestock and his family. The jury agreed.
