BREAKING NEWS: City council hires consulting company to explore downtown hotel feasibility

City councilors signed off on a deal Tuesday with a consulting company to explore the feasibility and potential development of a downtown hotel.

The project would serve as a “headquarters hotel” for the Muskogee Civic Center. LodgeWell Development, which is based in Overland Park, Kan., will be paid $60,000 as the project’s “master developer.”

The proposed project as defined by the memorandum of understanding would include a “120-room hotel identified as a national hotel franchise.”

Mayor Bob Coburn said he is “all in favor of it.”
