BREAKING NEWS: Muskogee girls defeat Bixby for regional title

BIXBY -- Offsetting some continued offensive woes with defense and heart, Muskogee advanced to within a victory of its first girls basketball state appearance since 2001 here Saturday, defeating Bixby 49-41 for a Class 6A East Area regional title.

Kelsey McClure had 12 points, Alexus Wilson nine, Chelsie Keys eight and Bethany Hall seven clutch points off the bench as MHS beat Bixby for the second time in three meetings and moved to 19-6 on the year. They'll play Bartlesville, a 74-62 winner over Jenks in another regional played Saturday at Catoosa High School on Thursday  with the winner advancing to state. The loser would need to win a consolation game next Saturday to punch a state ticket.
