Two local residents were named to the 2014 board of officers and directors of Green Country Marketing, a media release states.
Kin Thompson of Northeastern State University and Steve White of Love Bottling Company will serve as vice presidents of the 2014 Executive Committee of Green Country Marketing Association, one of the state’s multi-county organizations working with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department in promoting tourism.
The association held its annual membership meeting Thursday at Three Forks Harbor River Center in Fort Gibson.
During the meeting, the organization’s past-year accomplishments were discussed and its 2014 board of officers and directors was approved.
The 2014 Executive Committee members include Chairman Barbara Hawkins, Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce; President Lori Hill, Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors Bureau; 1st Vice President Amanda Davis, Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau; Secretary/Treasurer Linda Goldner, Picture in Scripture Amphitheater; and Vice Presidents Tanya Andrews, Claremore Convention & Visitors Bureau; Justin Alberty, Grand River Dam Authority; Thompson and White.
In addition, 16 tourism professionals serve the organization as area directors and directors at-large from across Green Country.
In 1965, business and community leaders from across eastern Oklahoma gathered in Bartlesville and founded Green Country Marketing Association as an economic development program for the 18 counties of northeastern Oklahoma, said Jackie Stewart, executive director.
Based on its members’ needs, Green Country develops cooperative advertising and marketing campaigns designed to encourage travelers to visit the region while providing savings for its participating members.
Following the meeting, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of Muskogee, visiting Honor Heights Park, the Muskogee War Memorial and several museums.
