“There is no place to go in Muskogee. There is nothing to do.”
Local teens and young adults have been saying this for years.
Timothy Baptist Church leaders decided it was time to change the refrain.
The church is providing college-aged youths ages 17 and older a place to go.
The King’s Cup offers free cappuccino, Wi-Fi, and live music.
The hangout, at 5028 W. Okmulgee Ave., is open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
Chetan Munsell, 18, says The King’s Cup was sorely needed in Muskogee.
“There isn’t really any other place to hang out in the weekends,” he said. “I think some Muskogee teens and young adults are in a bad spot because there are so many opportunities for partying in this town.”
The church saw a need and mustered the resources to meet it.
Young people, you have a place to go. Check it out.
