Positive visual results coming soon

Muskogee citizens soon will begin seeing positive results from the efforts to clean up our city.

The City of Muskogee Foundation awarded the city $300,000 this year to reinvigorate the city’s housing rehabilitation program. The city also received $400,000 this year to make a huge dent in the number of structures waiting to be demolished.

The housing rehabilitation program provides up to $20,000 for qualified homeowners for exterior repairs. Both of these grants quicken the plan to make our city more beautiful.

There are plenty of homes that could use a facelift, but the homeowners need financial help to complete those projects.

Let’s face it. There are plenty of structures in our city that a facelift won’t help.

The grants give the city the money it needs to speed up the process of knocking down these buildings.

This is the best of both worlds.

If a home can be saved, we should save it. If it can be improved, we should improve it.

If neither of those things are really possible, we should knock it down before Mother Nature wears it down.

Both of these projects will give citizens a positive impression of the progress our city is making.

When we see results, we are more likely to invest the time and money to make additional progress.
