A proposed skateboard park at Robison Park is just another reason why Muskogee citizens should be proud of our park system.
We are lucky to have such diverse and numerous parks in Muskogee. Adding a skateboard park on the east side is just another jewel in the crown that is Muskogee’s park system.
The skateboard park would be Muskogee’s second. The first was built at the Love-Hatbox Sports Complex in early 2011.
It is a good park. But it’s a good skateboard ride away for a lot of Muskogee’s youth.
The new park will be a lot more convenient to the youth on Muskogee’s east side, and you can be sure they’ll take advantage of it.
The park, which could cost between $250,000 and $300,000, could be built as early as this summer.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board also voted to hire Native Skateparks LLC to design the proposed skate park.
The addition will bring more attention to Robison Park. Just a few short years ago, Robison Park was nothing more than an open field. Now it boasts a trail, a splashpad, basketball courts and more.
It’s easy to see why our parks system is the envy of comparable towns our size in the state and region.
