Support wounded warriors

— Those brave men and women who sacrifice for our country deserve our respect and support.

You will have a chance this week to show your appreciation to some of those who have given much in service to our country.

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team will play a doubleheader against Veterans Affairs staffers and Muskogee police and firefighters.

The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at Love-Hatbox Sports Complex.

The wounded warriors’ softball team is made up of “young, competitive, athletic veterans and active-duty soldiers” who lost limbs while serving in the military after the events of Sept. 11, 2001, according to a media release.

The team represents “some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers and veterans.”

We agree.

The team’s “mission is to raise awareness, through exhibition and celebrity softball games, of the sacrifices and resilience of our military and highlight their ability to rise above any challenge.”

These men and women should be an inspiration to you.

Here is your chance to show them how much you appreciate their sacrifices.
