Volunteer, learn about butterflies

One of Muskogee’s newest and most beautiful attractions needs your help.

The Papilion and Georgia-Pacific Butterfly House is in need of volunteers for the coming season. It is important to have volunteers manning the facility, manager Katherine Coburn said.

The Papilion staff have arranged free Papilion Garden Ambassador training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday in the Papilion Garden Room at the park. The training is for all adults who are interested in community volunteer service.

Coburn said 50 volunteers are needed to each work 25 hours through The Papilion’s season, which runs from Mother’s Day to Columbus Day.

Volunteers will receive training not only in gardening but in the city’s Okie Pride program too, Coburn said.

You don’t need to be an expert, just a desire to learn and willingness to share knowledge.

This is a great opportunity to give of yourself in a fun and beautiful environment.
