Celebrate, and remember

Muskogee’s celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. begins today with the premiere showing of “Soul Food Junkies” at the Roxy Theater.

Events continue daily through Monday with a Soul Food Cook-off and the  annual parade.

The celebration ends Monday evening with a commemorative musical and oratorical contest.

The events are well worth your attention and participation.

While you are enjoying the fun, please take time to remember the man and what he meant to our society.

Dr. King urged us to judge people by the content of their character and not just the color of their skin.

It was poignant in the 1960s and just as important now.

We are farther along in race relations than in the ’60s, but we have many more miles to go.

Enjoy the activities.

Remember the dream.
