A display of art at Arrowhead Mall this month has extra meaning.
Decorated bras were designed to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The public can help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, too.
The bras will be on display through Friday for mall visitors to vote for their favorite.
Tickets can be purchased at the Customer Service kiosk for $1 per vote.
From 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 20, the mall will hold a silent auction for the bras to raise more money for the cause.
The votes and auction will raise much needed funds.
The display, hopefully, will raise the spirits of those diagnosed with breast cancer or those who have been touched by the disease.
Salli Fisher, one of the artists whose bra is on display, put pink ribbons, pearls and words all over her bra.
“Before you have breast cancer you are special, you are a lot of words,” Fisher said in a recent Phoenix article. “But after you have breast cancer, you are a whole lot more words.
“I put the meaningful words, the words you still are after cancer like gorgeous, brave, strong.”
We hope the display, the artists and all those who give their money to help fight breast cancer will provide some strength to those fighting breast cancer.
