Applause to neighborhood building event

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Neither is neighborhood pride.

That’s why Neighbors Building Neighborhoods’ community picnics should be applauded.

The picnics are intended to encourage more neighbor-to-neighbor communication and improve communication between residents and city officials.

Neighbors Building Neighborhoods held six community picnics this summer. Turnout was in the hundreds for each one.

Kim Lynch, the executive director of the Muskogee Nonprofit Resource Center, said the turnout has been incredible.

Plans for next year’s events already have started.

“The kids are playing, and the adults are being educated,” Lynch said. “The city is on board for next year, and we already have four events scheduled.”

We encourage each citizen to have pride not only in their neighborhood, but in Muskogee.

Volunteer or attend your neighborhood picnic next year.
