Food by the Book: Irish tale makes for good eating

Blackberry Apple Tart1 pie crust, refrigerated or homemade
2 tart green apples
2 containers blackberries, about 2 cups, divided
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cake flour
2 tablespoons butter
Pinch of salt
Mix 1 cup blackberries, apples, sugar and flour together; add a pinch of salt.
Place crust in a chilled pie plate; fill with fruit and dot top with the butter.
Flute edges for decoration.
Bake at 425° for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to 375° and bake for 20-30 minutes or until top is nicely browned.
Place 1 cup blackberries in blender with 1/4 cup sugar and pulse until pureed.
Serve pie topped with ice cream and pureed blackberries. Yum.
