He has been a minister for 29 years and is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Okay. The church burned down approximately four years ago and plans are to build this summer. He is a self-employed carpenter, and has been mayor of Okay for 14 years. He graduated from Okay High School in 1971 and attended Liberty Bible College. He is married to Janet (Lyons) Ashley.
