Old becomes new

Bring in your broken jewelry and make new baubles and trinkets with Sherri Clark’s help.
“You can do so much with beads and old jewelry,” Clark said. “The trick is to save the things you love.”
Clark and her husband, Stan, opened the Busy Bee-dz shop on the main level in ShadowWood Mall, 401 W. Broadway.
“We have only been open for about a month,” she said. “But we are getting great traffic through here.”
Busy Bee-dz is bright and inviting. Four plush upholstered chairs surround a low level table with various beads of all shapes and colors, encased in clear apothecary jars.
Clark offers beading classes ranging from beginner to expert levels at 6 p.m. Thursdays and noon on Saturdays.
The classes are held in the bead shop with all supplies needed for making cell phone charms and jewelry.
“I used to hold demo classes at Hobby Lobby, but it was difficult to reach people through the day,” Clark said. “This shop has just enough space to do what we need.”
Whether you are coming in for tools, wire and clasps, or simply to pick out a unique gift, Busy Bee-dz has what you need.
“We have many starter kits if the customer wants to make their own,” Clark said. “Then we have several one-of-a-kind pieces that are available. I never make two pieces exactly alike unless the customer has asked for it.”
Prices of starter kits begin at $2.99 and up, depending on what a person chooses to make.
Clark said her shop is the perfect place for bridal showers and birthday parties.
She said she has everything a party would need, all parents or would-be brides need to do is schedule it.
“The little girls love it, and I am here to help them if they need it,” Clark said.
