“There are no pony rides or cotton candy at this event,” said Frank Kucish, organizer of the Midsummer Thunder bike rally.
More than 7,000 bikers are coming to Eufaula for a weekend of camping and entertainment.
Midsummer Thunder is running in addition to Eufaula Whole Hawg Days celebration.
Admission at the gate is $25 and is good for the duration of the event.
The Midsummer Thunder Parade starts at 10 a.m. in downtown Eufaula. Some of the festivities include a charity poker run, bikini contest and other field events.
“We have tons of games and live music every night,” Kucish said.
Entertainers include Selby Minner and Friends, Tin Can, Alter Ego, Knee Deep and Southern Discomfort.
“Visitors must be at least 18, and have ID’s ready,” he said. “This thing is not for kids. The roads are paved and we have plenty of shade,” he said. “People come out and camp in their tents, and they stay all weekend.”
Delores Kucish, Kucish’s mother, helps with the rally.
“You can park outside the gate,” she said. “We have a wagon that will run all day picking people up and taking them in so they don’t have to walk too far.”
He said no one will be allowed to bring all-terrain vehicles or golf carts.
“It’s about safety,” he said. “We want to make sure everyone is having a great time.”
