First Baptist Church, Checotah will celebrate its 110 years of service on Sunday with an all-day service. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the morning worship service beginning at 10:45 a.m. Rev. Chester Ward, director of missions for Kay Baptist Association, will preach in the morning service.
Paul West will direct the music. Mack Keathley will share memories of the church during morning worship.
At noon a covered dish lunch will be served. The afternoon service will begin at 1:30 p.m. There will be a variety of special music. Robin Whitman O’Quinn will share memories of growing up in Checotah. The church will honor Jerry Faught for 32 years of service as church treasurer. There will be a video production of people of the church during the past few years.
One project the church completed during the last year was to compile a cookbook of favorite recipes. Cost of each cookbook is $8. Copies will be available for purchase Sunday. They are also available at the church office during regular working hours.
Rev. Steve Dennis, pastor of the church, invites people of the community to join the celebration during the morning or afternoon or all day.
