Published October 15, 2008 06:34 pm - Okay boy turns into cover model for magazine By Travina Coleman Phoenix Staff Writer Everyone can be biased when it comes to their children’s beauty. But when a national magazine agrees with you, it makes it just a little sweeter.
Trevor Fowler of Okay, 13 months, is the newest face on Parents Magazine on newsstands today. Parents, William and Amanda Fowler of Okay, were very excited. “He is the cutest,” Amanda said. “We were a little surprised how far he made it.” William said he was on top of the world when he saw his baby’s face on the cover of a magazine. “It’s unbelievable they picked a kid from Oklahoma out of 80,000 babies,” he said. Months after Trevor’s photo was submitted, a spokesperson from the magazine got in touch with his family to let them know he was in the top 20 out of more than 80,000 children across the country. Trevor was the youngest contestant at 1 year old in a category for 18 months to 4 years. The top five tots were given an all-expense paid trip to New York City for a photo shoot in August. By Oct. 1, they found out he was declared the winner. Trevor’s aunt and uncle, Shelly and Mike Cooper of Okay, said they are thrilled about Trevor’s experience. “I think it’s to cool,” Mike Cooper said. “He is the prettiest little boy that ever hit the world. I mean he knows everybody. He can walk up to you with those big blue eyes. I swear they are as big as silver dollars, with his arms outstretched. He’s awesome.” Shelly agreed with her husband. “He comes and stays at our house often,” she said. “My kids feel the same way about him as we all do. He can walk in the door and all the attention is on him. He is the youngest of my nephews.” Shelly said when the issue hit, she drove all the way to Target in Tulsa to pick up the seven issues they had left. “Wal-Mart in Muskogee and Wagoner didn’t have them yet,” she said. “But when they got them, I bought four or five more. I mean I have to give them to everybody.”
