Cornucopia Market today in Tahlequah



Art, stained glass, collectibles, vintage dolls, antiques, Peruvian jewelry, NuSkin, baby items, what nots and knick-knacks will be available at 8 a.m. Saturday at the second annual Cornucopia Market at the Cherokee County Community Building, 906 S. College, Tahlequah.

This fundraiser offers biscuits and gravy for breakfast and Indian tacos for lunch by Jan O’Field and friends to help daughter Barbara Helton, 15, a competitive power lifter go to the world meet in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Carry-outs for the lunch are $5 and include a drink and dessert.

Entertainment will include Downtown Country performers, dancers with “The Nutcracker” from On Your Toes, and John Fite and Scott Lawrence on guitar.

The stained glass work of Cherokee master craftsman Tommy Cookson will be available. His stained glass windows adorn many churches. His etchings of the colonel were in Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants around the country, and locally a piece of his is mounted outside the Restaurant of the Cherokees.

He will have several pieces available for donations to help the A.N.G.E.L.S. Foundation Inc. (Adair County Network Giving Everything in Love and Service) in Stilwell and the new You’re Someone Special: A Center for Family Arts and Advocacy.

Murv Jacob’s art, Debbie Duvall’s history books and the couples’ award-winning children’s books, “The Grandmother Stories,” will be available.

Some gift items include Kathy Leigh Lamb, hand-painted silk scarves; Ryan Lee Smith, Cherokee and non-traditional art; Marilyn Ragan, art and jewelry, handmade baskets; and beadwork by Adair County’s Buckhorn sisters, Shirley Sims and Carla Wiley, along with dicast model cars and LEGO toys.

Collectible vintage and heirloom Madam Alexander dolls, momma dolls and walking dolls from the 1940s and ’50s will be among the offerings. There also will be handmade soaps, oils and therapeutic food massages.
