Hank’s second cousin, Hank, to perform tribute

Hank Singleton will be performing a “Tribute to Hank Williams Sr.” at the Plumb Theatre at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. Admission is $10 and tickets are sold in advance by calling 452-2020. Tickets also can be purchased at the regular Friday night and Saturday night Longtown Opry Shows at the Plumb Theatre, five and one-half miles east of Eufaula, on Oklahoma 9.

Hank Singleton, second cousin to Hank Williams Sr., performs a smashing and nostalgic tribute to the late great Hank Williams Sr. His career covers many years and many miles singing the songs of Hank Williams Sr.

Hank Singleton was born in South Alabama. Growing up on a farm and part of a family of 10 children he knows the feel and love for the common man. The entire family was musical. Hank started out playing the drums for the family band but soon found he had a talent for singing. After his tour of service with the military he began singing on the road — festivals, reunions, nursing homes, anywhere he could he sang the traditional country music of his hero Hank Williams Sr.

Hank has sung Hank Williams Sr. songs across the state of Alabama in places such as Attalla, Gadsden, Fort Payne, Guntersville, Huntsville, Montgomery, Georgeanna, Springville, Lineville and many, many small towns and communities in between.

“It’s fun singing for people. I have so much fun making people happy.”

Hank has performed his tribute show in Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma. “I just want to keep the memory alive.”

Those who know about Hank Williams Sr. know about the Drifting Cowboys that played with him. Hank Singleton has entertained with each and every one of the Drifting Cowboys at one time or another in various venues. The Drifting Cowboys have voted Hank Singleton to be the best singer of Hank Williams Sr. songs in this part of the country.

Singleton has performed and been the featured singer many time over the years at the Hank Williams Sr. Museum. Hank has also performed at the Hank Williams Sr. Festival, where he sang with Jett Williams, the daughter of Hank Williams Sr. He has also appeared at Steve Maze’s “Yesterdays Memories Annual Awards Celebration” and “The Poke Salad Festival” both in Arab, Alabama, “The Homestead Holler Festival” in Springville, Alabama, and “The Baileyton Founder’s Day Celebration”.

In 2005, Singleton was inducted into the Deep South American Music Hall of Fame, given by the American Music Association for his outstanding involvement in the field of music. Another great honor was given to Hank when he received the Hank Williams Legacy Award for living and promoting the dream of keeping the Hank Williams name and legend alive. This award was given to Hank Singleton in July of 2005.

In 2006, Hank Singleton also had the honor of being inducted into America’s Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame in Anita, Iowa. This honor was given him at the Missouri Valley Country Music Festival. While in the festival he was featured on the Main Stage as well as performing on several other stages.

Hank Singleton has “A Tribute To Hank Williams Sr.” show worth seeing. Those who have seen the show say he is the best they have heard.
