Steve Pryor Band to play Saddle Club

The Tulsa-based Steve Pryor Band will perform at Muskogee’s Saddle Club at 9 tonight.

Pryor has shared the stage with John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Greg Allman, and Dr. John and Johnny Winter, to name a few, according to a media release.

According to the release, The Steve Pryor Band provides plenty of material for the blues purist, however, they see nothing wrong with tapping the roots of rock ’n’ roll, jazz or country to get their message across.

Pryor is a member of the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame as well as the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame as a blues inductee.

The Saddle Club is located in the Quality Inn at 3031 Military Drive. There will be no charge for this event.

Prior to the event, Native American artist MaryBeth Nelson will have a benefit art show. Nelson is one of 14 American Indian artists to be invited to exhibit in the 2012 “Art en Capital” Salon du Dessin et de la Peinture à l'eau, which will be celebrated Nov. 27-Dec. 2, 2012, in Paris. Money raised from the show will pay for Nelson’s train fees, food and hotel while attending the event.

Nelson is a Cherokee artist and native Oklahoman.
