Poker run benefit Saturday for NRA support group

TAHLEQUAH — The Indian Capitol Friends of the NRA have scheduled a scenic Poker Run at 10 a.m. Saturday, beginning in Muskogee and ending in Peggs.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Okie Guns and Gear,1316 N. York. The scenic 100-mile ride, sponsored by Sweet Shot Firearms Training, will go through Fort Gibson, Tahlequah, Kansas, Locust Grove and end at Sycamore Springs Ranch in Peggs, with all bikes and autos in at 4 p.m.

Volunteers across the country gather each year to raise money for the future of the shooting sports. Because of Friends of the NRA committees and volunteers and the funds they raise through the banquets, the NRA Foundation has been able to fund local, state and national firearms programs, according to a media release. Friends of the NRA has organized more than 15,000 events, reached more than 2.8 million attendees and raised more than $200 million for the NRA Foundations, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

The holder of the winning hand in the poker run will receive a firearm off the “Wall of Guns.” Other prizes also will be given away. There will also be a raffle for a choice of a Keltec SU16E or Keltec KSG Compact 12-gauge shotgun. Raffle tickets are $20.

The cost of the Poker Run, which includes a poker hand and meal, is $35. Additional hands and meals are available for $10 and $8 each, respectively.
