Local photographer chosen for OKC lecture series

David Reynolds’ appearance in conjunction with exhibits at Museum of Art

OKLAHOMA CITY — A Muskogee man is one of a dozen photographers to be featured in the Photo Slam at 7 p.m. May 29 at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Noble Theater, 415 Couch Drive in Oklahoma City. This is not your typical artist lecture.

David W. Reynolds was selected from a pool of applicants by Stephen Kovash, the owner and curator of Istvan Gallery.

“My intent with my photography/art?” Reynolds said in a news release. “I want to show people the world around them that they normally don’t pay attention to. I want to show it to them in a way that awakens their imaginations and brings appreciation for the world surrounding you. I hope people can see, through my work, the beauty and wonder in what otherwise might be considered mundane.”

Each of the participating photographers will get five minutes to share what they do using a variety of tools — slides, digital projections, printed samples or other means. The other photographers are: Daniel Bottoms, Rick Cotter, Josh DeLozier, Steffanie Halley, Amy Hanson, Robert James, Travis Marak, Don Risi, T.R. Ryan, Debra Van Swearingen, and Randy Watkins.

The Photo Slam is presented in conjunction with the exhibitions “Ansel Adams: An American Perspective” and “Brett Weston: Land, Sea, and Sky — Recent Gifts from the Christian Keesee Collection,” which are on display at the museum through June 1. Admission is free.
