NARFE

The Muskogee Chapter of the National Association of Current and Retired Federal Employees will have its Christmas dinner at noon Thursday at Paul’s Diner, 3240 S. Country Club Drive.

Alyce Green, vice president, District II, NARFE, will install officers elected to lead the chapter in 2013.

Door prizes will be drawn. Reservations for dinner should be made to Ed Farris.

Alpha Adelphi

Alpha Adelphi, a Muskogee High School student service organization, held a food drive recently. Members collected canned good for the food pantry at Muskogee’s First Baptist Church. Every girl in Alpha Adelphi brought 15 cans, and then the group went house to house in various neighborhoods asking for donations. Group members collected 795 cans.

Books Sandwiched In

The Muskogee Friends of the Library Books Sandwiched In program will be Wednesday at the Muskogee Public Library. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a book review by the Rev. Ann Brizendine at noon. She will review the book “Elizabeth The Queen — Life of a Modern Monarch,” by Sally Bedell Smith. A sandwich lunch with dessert and drinks will be served for $3. All guests are welcome.

Rev. Brizendine was born in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and received her master of divinity from Austin Presbyterian Seminary. She has pastored churches in Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas before moving to First Presbyterian in Muskogee. She is married and has three children and two granddaughters.

She is an avid reader in her spare time. She also teaches “Introduction to Christianity” at Bacone College.
