Several local groups and nurseries will bring a broad variety of plants to sell to the public Saturday at the Papilion at Honor Heights Park.
Friends of Honor Heights Park, the Muskogee County Master Gardeners, the Muskogee Garden Club and several local nurseries will offer plants for sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds will benefit the Papilion garden and butterflies.
Some of the items from local gardeners include favorite perennial starts, forsythia, blackberry plants, canna, iris and tulip bulbs, herbs, horseradish, and succulents, said Trudy Sudberry, chair of Friends of Honor Heights Park.
“This is an opportunity for gardeners to get some great end-of-the-planting season deals to complete their gardens,” Sudberry said. “Many of the plants available are from local gardeners who are sharing the best of their plantings for this event and have lovingly potted them up.”
The group also has had the support of some generous local nurseries that have donated assorted annuals and perennials, sedums, ivies and ground covers.
“We encourage everyone to come out to the Papilion for this fun and very ‘green’ event,” Sudberry said. “Instead of discarding our extras, this group is hoping to share them at a very economical price with our Muskogee-area neighbors, to brighten up gardens throughout the city.”
