Area piano students earn ratings at Festival


— Area piano students recently participated in the Area Baptist Keyboard Festival sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. The Festival was held at South Tulsa Baptist Church in Tulsa.

There were five categories that the students could enter, each level progressing in difficulty.

Receiving a superior rating in Category I were Jubilee Allison, Kate Fenska, Russell Bell, John Mark Jardine, and Trenten Martin.

Receiving an excellent rating in Category I were Abbey Faulk and Landren Martin.

In Category II superior ratings were earned by Stephen Harlin, Abby Mix, and Camryn Runyan. Anna Mix received an excellent rating and Ricky Schell received a good rating.

Superior ratings in Category III were given to Lydia Harlin and Emma Holmes. An excellent rating was given to Rachel Throgmorton and Sidnei Schell received a good rating.

There also were duets played in Categories I, II and III. Kate Fenska and Ricky Schell received a superior rating and Jubilee Allison received an excellent rating.

Category IV superior ratings were earned by Heidi Schell, David Harlin, Laura Jardine, and Denise Kimball.

Rebekah Harlin earned a superior in Category V.

Laura Jardine also received a superior rating in organ Category II.

Those earning a superior rating in Category IV and V are all eligible to participate in the State Keyboard Festival, which will held on March 8 on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. Laura Jardine is also eligible in the organ category.

Teachers represented were Rhonda Beard, Bethany Harlin, Nancy Shelton, and Bob Bell of Muskogee, and Teresa Pointer of Wagoner.
