Stage comedy starts tonight at NSU

Northeastern State University’s Theatre Company will present its rendition of “Opal’s Million Dollar Duck,” a comedy by John Patrick, at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday. The show will be performed at the NSU Playhouse, at Muskogee Avenue and Downing Street in Tahlequah.

The show is about a quirky woman, Opal, who collects junk and sells it in her home, which is also Opal’s Antique Junque Shop. She encounters two “stars” of the local summer-stock theatre company who begin plotting to trick her out of a particular treasure. With regular visits from her kooky fortune-teller friend, Rosie, who owns Rosie’s Hot Meatball Stand on the highway, Opal’s adventures are sure to provide an evening of comic entertainment.

Admission is $5 per person.

The play is directed by Robyn Pursley, produced by the NSU College of Liberal Arts and presented through special arrangements with the Dramatic Play Service.
