Panthers advance in competition

— The Muskogee Panthers Pathfinder Club participated in a conference level Bible experience competition. The team finished in first place, which moves it on to the Union Level.

The Union Level Bible Experience Competition is scheduled for March 23 in San Antonio.

Pathfinders are a youth organization affiliated with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The organization’s mission is to engage youth in character and leadership building skills, while bringing them closer to Jesus, according to a media release. They participate in several activities including honors, camping, community outreach projects and Bible study activities. The Bible Experience Competition, formally called “Bible Bowl,” is study of specified books of the Bible and the SDA Bible Commentary.

This year, the focus is on the books of Acts and I and II Thessalonians.

Clubs compete at area levels, conference levels, union levels, and the highest level, national. Each level contains 90 timed questions. Top scores and clubs making a 90 percent of top score are given first place. Teams must take first place to advance to the next level.

The Muskogee Panthers took a first place certificate at the area level on Feb. 2, which was held in Muskogee.

On March 2, the team placed first at conference level in Wewoka.

This year National level will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Muskogee Panthers consist of Rachel Bruce, Rachel Flerchinger, Ashtynn Gilliam and Marissa Smith.
