Library offers retirement books

National Save for Retirement Week is this week. Retiring from work is something many of us look forward to, but unless you happen to be born to a very wealthy family or are lucky enough to win the lottery, many are not prepared nor can afford to retire when they want to do so.

It is never too early to start planning and preparing for you retirement. The various problems that have hit the stock markets, real estate, and various other financial institutions during the past ten years have shown just how unreliable and unsecure life can be. The job market has also proven to be troublesome for many people

At the Muskogee Public Library there are several books which advise and counsel people on how to plan for their retirement years. They include various ways save money, avoid scams, and offer ideas on what to do once you do retire.

One such book is “How to Retire the Cheapskate Way” by Jeff Yeager, the official “Savings Expert” for AARP. It includes everyday practical tips and financial strategies that show how to have a better, happier, and earlier retirement. The secret to getting the retirement you want is not in using complicated investment schemes but rather in how much money you spend. You should focus on what you truly want and spend smart.

Other books to help you plan for your retirement that can be found at the Muskogee Public Library include “The Smartest Retirement Book You'll Ever Read” by Daniel R. Solin, “The Buckets of Money Retirement Solution” by Raymond J. Lucia, “The Hard Times Guide to Retirement Security” by Mark Miller, and “The AARP Retirement Survival Guide” by money manager Julie Jason.

These and other retirement planning books explain how social security works, how to use IRAs, 401Ks, pension plans, social security, annuities and much more to save for the retirement you dream of enjoying. They will help you to choose a financial advisor to suit your needs.

Planning for your retirement doesn't just include being financially prepared but also emotionally and psychologically prepared. Many people don't know what to do with themselves once the thrill and excitement of retiring has ebbed. Books can also be found at the Muskogee Public Library that will help people deal with this problem.

Sixty-five essays offering practical and bold advice on what to do when you retire can be found in Mark Evan Chimsky's book “65 Things to Do When You Retire.” It covers redefining retirement, working during retirement, starting a new career, volunteering, and doing things you enjoy.

Whether you've just started working, will soon be retiring, or have already retired, these and other similar books available at the Muskogee Public Library can help make your retirement years be financially secure and emotionally satisfying.

Visit the Muskogee Public Library for these books and many other resources to improve your life.
