Catfish cook-off coming in June

— Cooks are needed for the inaugural Catfish Cook-off Festival, Civic Center Director Cassandra Gaines announced.

The event, which is planned to take place every year, is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at the Civic Center, 425 Boston Ave.

The entry fee is $50. Cash prizes of up to $1,000 awarded for first, second and third places. Trophies and people’s choice prizes also will be awarded.

Taster’s kits will be offered for $8, Gaines said.

Wanda Watson will perform blues music during the coof-off.
