— Green Country Duplicate Bridge

Green Country Duplicate bridge meets at 12:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Kiwanis Senior Citizens Center, 119 Spaulding Blvd. Newcomers are welcome. If interested in playing or learning to play duplicate bridge contact Ann Kent at (918) 682-3098, Mary Smith at (918) 682-2605, or Sandy Cole at (918) 684-9002.

Recent winners are:

• Jan. 9 — Rene Tyrell and Bill Porter, first; Mary Hoover and Minnie Sheffield, second in A and first in B; and Sandra Cole and Santa McWiiliams were third in A and second in B.

• Jan. 11 — Jane Lopes and Betty Jordan, first; and Ruth Sharpe and Bonnie Jennings, second.

• Jan. 14 — Betty Jordan and Ruth Sharpe, first; and Marialice Davis and Grace Sweeney, second.

Six members attended a tournament at Bartlesville recently. Linda Stearns, Norma Kolmer, Dave Murdock and Ann Kent were awarded silver points. There will be a special senior game on March 4.



Books Sandwiched In

The Muskogee Friends of the Library Books Sandwiched In program will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Muskogee Public Library. Director Jane Bryant will present “Geek the Library,” an introduction to the Library Awareness System campaign being launched by the Eastern Oklahoma Library System. Library staff will perform an informative skit. Sandwich lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $3. Guests are welcome.



Beta Sigma Phi

Omicron Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 7 in the home of Thelma Terrill for the club’s January meeting.      

The meeting was called to order by President Martha Tuteral with members reciting the opening ritual. The minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and approved.

After a short business meeting, members voted for the person to be selected as this years’ Valentine sweetheart. The sweetheart-elect will be crowned at the February meeting. Members were reminded to bring a valentine gift for their Secret Sister.

The program was presented by Thelma Terrill. She played several classical music selections on the piano and gave the history and background of the composer of each selection.

The February meeting will be at 6 p.m. at Gino’s Italian Restaurant, 201 N. York St. for their Valentine dinner. The sweetheart-elect will be crowned by last year’s sweetheart. After dinner, members will go to the home of Kathleen McCaslin for dessert. Members are reminded to bring a Valentine gift for their secret sister.



Three Rivers Photography Club

The Three Rivers Photography Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at 315 Court St. The meeting will cover camera instruction resulting in better photographs. Attendees are asked to bring their camera and book to the meeting. The meeting will be a learning and teaching meeting.

Muskogee County Genealogical Society

The Muskogee County Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Grant Foreman Room at the Muskogee Public Library. The society is glad to present Debra Osborne Spindle. Spindle is the librarian in the research division of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Spindle will present “What My Grandmother Told Me: Crossing the Plains with the Ball Brothers,” which is a family story about traveling in a wagon train. Meeting is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring a snack and a friend.

St. Joseph Seniors

St. Joseph Seniors ages 50 and up will meet at 12:10 p.m. Thursday in the Marian Chapel for communion, then follow up with a potluck luncheon in the church commons. Those attending are asked to bring a casserole, salad, vegetable, or dessert. The movie “The King’s Speech” will be shown after lunch, with snacks and popcorn.
